Large Cents 1794 1C Head of 1794, Ornate Head, S-28, B-10, R.2, MS61 Brown PCGS. Die State VIII. The treatment of this variety's hair was notable enough for Maris to dub it the Ornate variety, of which Sheldon would come to conclude the same. The late die state of this piece is most evident by the distinct clashing on the reverse as well as the plethora of die cracks on the obverse. This example displays rich chocolate-brown luster with some deepening patina on the reverse. The strike on this coin is pristine, with the only notable weakness being largely attributed to the late die state. Minimal verdigris is developing along LIBERTY and the cap. In Mint State, the Head of 1794 large cent is scarce and becomes increasingly rare when broken down into the various Sheldon varieties. This newly discovered example is consigned from a European source and ranks among the six or seven finest S-28 cents that are known to us. www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice https://coins.ha.com/itm/large-cents/1794-1c-head-of-1794-ornate-head-s-28-b-10-r2-ms61-brown-pcgs/a/1393-3009.s?type=DA-DMC-CoinArchives-USCoins-1393-04292026 HID02906262019 © 2026 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved Certification number: PCGS 57515263
